Digitalization is a concrete tool to strengthen prevention and emergency management. This was confirmed by the information day and the seminar dedicated to the project Digital Plan, funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program, which was held on August 4, 2026 at the Conference Room of the GAL Molise, in via Monsignor Bologna 15 in Campobasso.
The meeting, aimed at Civil Protection operators, was an opportunity to present the results achieved by the project and deepen the potential of the developed platform: an innovative IoT early warning system, designed to digitize Civil Protection Plans, promptly identify environmental risks and support rapid and effective emergency management.
During the day, the work carried out in the two pilot territories identified by the project was illustrated, the Municipalities of Busso and Montagano, where sensors have been installed that can detect potentially dangerous climatic conditions and transmit alerts to the digital platform in real time, allowing constant monitoring of the territory and more timely intervention by the competent authorities.
The initiative was attended by GAL Molise, lead partner of the project, the Regional Department of Civil Protection of Molise, the climatologist prof. Massimiliano Fazzini from the University of Camerino, representatives of the Civil Protection volunteer and the external experts who contributed to the development of the platform and the installation of the sensor network, the companies Arpes Srl and Sensor ID.
The event confirmed the value of cross-border cooperation and technological innovation in strengthening the prevention and management of natural risks, making available to local administrations increasingly advanced tools for the protection of the territory and the population - a concrete step towards a more resilient, digital Civil Protection and ready to face the challenges posed by climate change.
