Climate, territory and community: the Green B-Leaf project brings the participatory budget to Molise

The community workshop "Climate, territory and participation: defining green priorities together for the municipalities of Molise" was held on March 16, 2026 at the conference room of the GAL Molise, organized as part of the Green B-Leaf project, funded by the Interreg EuroMed program.

The meeting offered a moment of collective discussion on the issue of participatory budgeting and its role in local environmental policies. The work was developed around two main strands: on the one hand, the understanding of the functioning of the participatory budget as a tool to guide public investments towards climate transition and green infrastructure; on the other hand, the collection and sharing of the experiences of Molise municipalities in terms of sustainable practices already in place on the territory.

At the center of the debate is also the active involvement of citizens and local stakeholders, in the belief that choices related to environmental sustainability must arise from a transparent and participatory process. In support of the discussion, concrete examples taken from the experience of the Municipality of Campobasso were presented, which has already started participatory budget paths oriented to the green economy.

The workshop represents one of the stages of the path of GREEN B-LEAF, a transnational project that aims to strengthen local governance on climate change through instruments of participatory democracy and shared planning.
