On Monday, March 30, 2026 in Civitacampomarano, the Marconi-Pilla Technical Institute of Campobasso will be the protagonist of a live cooking demonstration dedicated to food recovery through anti-waste recipes.
Every year in the world about a billion tons of food ends up in the trash; in Italy alone the figure amounts to almost two million tons and among the most wasted foods we find bread vegetables.
These figures cannot go unnoticed, but they must serve to stimulate reflection on how to avoid food waste. Therefore, it is very important to address this issue also at school, both as a time to educate on the value of food, and as an opportunity to start putting into practice daily actions useful to prevent food waste.
The involvement of schools is therefore fundamental to raise awareness of the problem of domestic waste and to promote more careful and sustainable behaviors also through the preparation of creative recipes, thanks to the recovery of foods that risk being thrown away even though they are still edible.
The show cooking will be attended by the middle school of the municipality of Castelmauro, which in January was involved in a teaching activity aimed at raising awareness among classes about the multiple ethical, environmental and economic impacts of food waste.
The initiative, promoted by GAL Molise as part of the project "Civitacampomarano: between identity and innovation to look to the future", funded by the PNRR - M1C3 Investment 2.1 "Attractiveness of villages" - Line B, is part of the line of intervention Festival of recovery - Fight against food waste.
